As supporters of the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, it’s important for us SWAA members to know the latest news and actions coming from the Poor People’s Campaign.
On Monday, September 16, the Poor People’s Campaign launched the “We Must Do M.O.R.E. (Mobilize, Organize, Register, and Educate) National Tour in El Paso, TX, Along with the Border Network for Human Rights, they held a powerful Mass Meeting and explained why, following the racist attacks in El Paso over the summer and the continued militarization of poor border communities, the tour began at our Nation’s border. The Tour then moved on to North Carolina, where the Moral Mondays movement transformed state politics and laid critical groundwork for the Poor People’s Campaign. This vital Tour highlights the work of the Campaign on the ground, and will stop in over 20 states over the course of the next six months, culminating in the Mass Poor People’s Assembly and Moral March on Washington on June 20, 2020.
