“Practicing radical social work: Opportunities for subversion”
A series of dialogues on radical social welfare practice.
Conversations About Radical Clinical Practice
Sunday, February 27, 2022
4:00pm – 5:30pm Eastern Time (US & Canada)
To be held virtually, organized by the Social Welfare Action Alliance
Join us to talk about barriers and solutions for radicalizing clinical practice in agencies, private practice, hospitals, schools, etc. How are you moving your ideals out of the university classroom and into your daily practice? How are you staying aligned with your ethics while performing the duties of your direct clinical practice, as assigned, amidst protocols, policies, politics, and paperwork? This event will include small group discussions to explore what radical practice can look like for us, wherever we are and however we show up to this work.
Ashley Zayas – keynote
Ashley Zayas, LCSW (they/them, xe/xem) is a clinical social worker who is currently in private practice. They worked in a variety of non-profits for 8 years and are passionate about decolonizing therapy and creating a model that works better for our marginalized clients. Xe has been able to incorporate decolonization, anti-oppression, and anti-capitalism into xyr practice while working in non-profits and in private practice. Ashley looks forward to sharing and receiving ideas of how we can push forward despite the barriers in place.
