The time for radical social work is NOW! Social workers in other countries have taken the initiative to articulate what it means to be radical social workers committed to societal transformation. Using their examples, we will craft an ever-evolving Radical Social Work Manifesto for the United States. As Angela Davis has said “radical just means grabbing by the roots.” Let’s articulate our vision.
Convener: Rosemary A. Barbera, Ph.D., MSS: Barbera is a social worker and professor who has been working in human rights since the 1980’s in the U.S. and Latin America, including work with immigrants fleeing war and the violence of poverty from Latin America and Africa.
Collaborative work will be done in breakout sessions facilitated by SWAA National Steering Committee Members.
